Earth Hour Starts Tomorrow

Guys and Gals! Its Earth Hour tomorrow! Please do your part for mother earth tomorrow 28th March 09 by turning off all lights for an hour, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. Lets have a pitch dark satellite picture of Singapore for just this one hour of the year.

I understand that this action is just a gesture and still could not make a huge impact on humanity foot prints on the deteriorating health of the Earth. However it shows the government and the world that we can make a difference to the recovery of our planet if we collectively commit ourselves to it.

By the way, just by turning off 1 light bulb for an hour save 1.8 cents. Imagine turning off millions of light bulb. I hope the cents savings made sense to you. :)

28th March 2009 is Earth Day.

MAKE EARTH HOUR HAPPEN IN YOUR TOWN
A list of ideas you can implement, no matter where you live!
8:30pm Saturday 28 March 2009

In 2007, more than two million Sydney businesses and households turned off their lights for
one hour - Earth Hour - sending a powerful global message that it’s possible to take action on
climate change.

Just one year later, Earth Hour reached more than 50 million people in 35 countries across 18
timezones, and the campaign shifted from a Sydney event to a global sustainability movement.
In 2009, Earth Hour aims to reach one billion people in 1000 cities worldwide. If you want to
bring Earth Hour to your town or city on 28 March 2009 at 8:30pm, this will help you get
started!

**Extracted from the "Earth Hour Guide"**

On 28th March 2009, lets commemorate Earth Day by switching off our lights at 8.30pm for 1 hour. Lets show Earth that we all can save lots of energy for an hour a year just by turning off the lights. Nothing too inconvenient though for you can still keep your TV set on.

Why is saving energy important? Of course the obvious reasons are saving energy means saving your pocket from the rising utility bills! Today, this simple "green" action had spread to many parts of the world and an estimated 50 million people participated just last year. Imagine the huge energy saved in just that hour alone.

The action is a signal that WE the people of the earth CAN make efforts to SAVE our earth. ENERGY and reduce the impact on our climate change. Many profit and non-profit organization in Singapore are participating. I like to invite all readers to participate as well...it will make for a very interesting evening on the 28th of March 2009. Passion?

How conflicting it can be when ones passion for his job could become a topic of controversy for this two days. Eventually the power imbalance ensured the suppression of the flame of passion of a new guy. Is it wrong to mention that one got huge passion for the job he put his life on for the next ten years or could the idea of passion to be surprisingly damaging for a newbie embarking in this career of not just bolts and nuts but human relationship juggling?

One interesting definition brought up in this controversy incident of the titan vs little soldier was that Passion = "Pass I On". Which easily be interpreted as "Now I Off". Pretty funny definition for that created a really heated situation. I personally felt nothing wrong with been passionate about work and expressing it but to disintegrate the meaning of it by saying "Pass I On" seems hurtful to a wonderful innocent naive soul full of hope for his 10 years future. Maybe the Titan intend was good for he wanted to fan down the heat of passion of the little soldier before it goes out of hand and burn up as hell fire. One should always remember that in a certain movie, someone passion got out of hand (at less for the authority) that he got crucified. Or maybe I am just been office political for agreeing to smolder the flames of passion.

I certainly like to work with people full of energies and ideas. The current generation of juniors nowadays are far more spontaneous than my time and I sure don't want to see them flame out too early. For me, its just a job now, sometime a blow job as evident by the recent anniversary endeavor of my empire. I am a gas stove for I can regulate my passion depending on situation. At the moment, I kept the flame at minimum :)

Pursuit Of Happiness

To be truly challenging, a voyage, like a life, must rest on a firm foundation of financial unrest. Otherwise, you are doomed to a routine traverse, the kind known to yachtsmen who play with their boats at sea... cruising, it is called. Voyaging belongs to seamen, and to the wanderers of the world who cannot, or will not, fit in. If you are contemplating a voyage and you have the means, abandon the venture until your fortunes change. Only then will you know what the sea is all about. I've always wanted to sail to the south seas, but I can't afford it." What these men can't afford is not to go. They are enmeshed in the cancerous discipline of security. And in the worship of security we fling our lives beneath the wheels of routine - and before we know it our lives are gone. What does a man need - really need? A few pounds of food each day, heat and shelter, six feet to lie down in - and some form of working activity that will yield a sense of accomplishment. That's all - in the material sense, and we know it. But we are brainwashed by our economic system until we end up in a tomb beneath a pyramid of time payments, mortgages, preposterous gadgetry, playthings that divert our attention for the sheer idiocy of the charade. The years thunder by, the dreams of youth grow dim where they lie caked in dust on the shelves of patience. Before we know it, the tomb is sealed. Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?

--A text that was surprisingly found hidden in a corner of my PC's hard disk. I don't know when did I download it and in fact I'm surprise how did I get it in the first place. My conclusion is that this writing miraculously appeared to send a message to me and for me to share with all of you. Sometimes I look back and reflect what have I really done and does it really help me achieve what I wanna be? The answer is as unclear as a ship sailing in a fog.

600++ vs 1

How bad is the job market in Singapore? According to my Human Resource lecturer, there was an opening for a Human Resource manager post in Singapore Polytechnic and guess what, 600++ application was filed for 1 job opening!!!

If only figures could be more forgiving in months to come when our economy recovers but things are truly quite out of hand when a rodent and pest control company are seeing University graduates applying to be "Field Operatives" .

Sure glad I am in the Iron Rice Bowl Inc at this point of time. Guess its the only recession proof company at the moment.

How to fail as a worker.

Saw this rather interesting poster at a drink stall. Could this be a message from the boss to the worker?

Said Also Don't Listen

Listen Also Don't Understand

Not Understand Also Don't Ask

Ask Also Don't Do

Do Also Do Wrong

Wrong Also Don't Admit

Admit Also Don't Correct

Correct Also Not Happy

Not Happy Also Don't Say

hire you for f***?

You should use the above guide and reflect where you are along the flow of failure. Most people often fail to listen and understand what they hear. That leads to all sorts of complication and misunderstand down the line.

In the end greedy people suffer and fake innocent saying the greedy bankers and relationship manager cheated their money. Who can forgot the image of a greedy ordinary people crying in front of the media for their savings lost? Alas, all this greedy-ness came from a story, once upon a time...

8137225 and whats the letter?

If my IC number is 8137225, what will be my last letter?

I'll take,

8 x 2 = 16
1 x 7 = 7
3 x 6 = 18
7 x 5 = 35
2 x 4 = 8
2 x 3 = 6
5 x 2 = 10

I shall sum up the products,
16+7+18+35+8+6+10= 100

Next I will divide the sum by 11 to obtain a remainder value,

100/11 = 9 r 1

Now with this remainder of 1, I will refer to the following reference,

10=A
9=B
8=C
7=D
6=E
5=F
4=G
3=H
2=I
1=Z
0=J

The last letter of my IC is Z...

Credit goes to Ngiam Shih Tung for showing us all the algorithm which the government will charge S$200 for use. Now its yours for free. So far it works only for S-series IC numbers.
