NO CASINO PLEASE!!!

What a coincident. Just when we are all debating about whether to built a casino or not (actually don't even need to debate, ultimately PAP still make the decision), the Tampines' Family Tragedy happened. For those who have not been reading the news paper, this tragedy is about a man, who own loan shark so much money due to gambling, that he have to take his wife and children with him to Heaven (or is it hell?).

This incident send a very very strong signal to our dear government about the danger of Casino in Singapore. Our government have already hinted us that they are GOING to built a Casino somewhere in Singapore. If it was me making the decesion, I will say a big NO to the Casino. Want to Gamble? Go Genting Highland or go on a Cruise ship but never never give our citizen the convinient access of Casino at the home ground less we expect more of such family tragedy to happen.

That does no mean that I am against gambling or casino. I still love to try my luck now and again in the name of fun and I feel I am still discipline enough in front of a deck of 52 cards, knowing when to give up and when to keep the winning spree going. However not everyone will be able to hold back the allure of a Casino life. So, yet again, NO CASINO IN SINGAPORE please.

Finally, remember that the governmet are setting all sorts of restriction on Singaporeans if they intend to enter a local Casino (if its built). Its RESTRICTION, which means you eventually still will land onto the gambling table after obeying certain rules like putting a deposit, paying member fee....etc...etc.... The Casino will eventually be just like the Malboro or Lucky Strike ciggarettes, high import tax, high price and the coming restriction in many public areas. This feel like cutting the weeds without removing its root. People still can smoke and people still can gamble, the implication are still around, Heart attack, highblood pressure, lung cancer, Loan Shark, Mass Organized Suicide. Man....the government should open both their eyes and ears and stop making decision that does no benefit us at all although someone, we know, is earning all the revenue from the Casino operation. ;-)

A casino and no casino would not make too much a difference to Singapore. A tourist would only label us copy cat... we are copy cat for so many things already. And in terms to attraction to tourists, we cannot fight the big guns of Macau, Genting and Las Vegas if Government is always involved. Money making... perhaps not.

For the locals: When we don't have it, we long for it. When we have it, we wouldn't care about it. Casino lcoated in an offshore island? Crazy. I would rather go to Genting or on a Cruise Ship.

I am against a casino in Singapore. If the Government always want to have a say, then perhaps they can focus on our almost loss-making turf club. Use the money to promote horse-racing and educate the citizens about the art of horse-betting.
